About the movement

What is The Kindness Pandemic?

It is a voluntary global movement for kinder healthcare. Hospitals and health systems sign the Global Kindness Charter, adopt a practical Toolkit, and share what they learn, turning everyday acts of kindness into lasting systems of care.

How does the movement relate to accreditation?

The Kindness Pandemic is a voluntary movement and learning platform. Participation reflects a commitment to humane care. Accreditation and certification remain separate processes, managed by their respective bodies.

Who can join?

Hospitals, health systems, quality bodies, professional associations and partner institutions anywhere in the world.

Is there a cost to join?

Signing the Charter is voluntary and open to eligible healthcare organisations.

Draft note Core team to confirm any cost details before publishing.
02

Signing the Charter

How does our institution sign?

An authorised representative completes the online signing flow: enter your institution’s details, accept the Charter declaration, consent to public listing, and submit. You then verify your email, and our team reviews the application before your institution is listed.

What happens after we submit?

You verify your email to activate access. Our team reviews your application, usually within a few working days. On approval, you receive dashboard access, a public listing, and your official badge and certificate.

Why is there a review step?

Review keeps the signatory directory credible and confirms that official badges and certificates are used by verified institutions.

Can we update our details later?

Yes. Once verified, institution admins can edit the profile, logo, champions and contact details from the dashboard.

03

Champions & access

Who are hospital champions?

Champions are people your institution nominates to collect local stories, submit practice notes, generate QR posters and support kindness rounds. They have their own verified access.

How is access managed?

Institution admins and champions verify their email before using signatory functions, and access is linked to approved roles.

04

Stories & the Kindness Wall

Who can share a kindness story?

Anyone — patients, families, visitors, volunteers and staff — through the website or by scanning a hospital QR poster.

When will my story appear?

Each story is reviewed before it appears. Light editing or anonymisation may be applied to protect privacy. You may also choose to share anonymously.

What should a story include?

Please describe the moment of kindness and why it mattered, while keeping patient names, diagnoses, treatment details, and other identifying information private.

Where can I raise a concern about my care?

The Kindness Wall features stories of kindness. For a concern about care, please contact the hospital directly through its official channels.

05

Consent, privacy & moderation

How is consent handled?

Publication follows explicit consent in every case, and an anonymity option is offered for every submission.

How does moderation work?

Submissions pass through moderation before publication. A first, AI-assisted level flags content for a human moderator, who can approve, edit, anonymise, hold, or remove it. This keeps publication safe and efficient.

Can published content be updated or removed?

Yes. Content can be corrected, anonymised, unpublished or removed when required.

06

Badges, recognition & the directory

What are signatory badges and certificates?

Official assets that verified signatories display to show their commitment. They are available to verified institutions.

How does the directory present signatories?

The directory recognises participation. Signatories appear alphabetically or by location, with equal standing for every institution. Recognition draws on milestones, spotlights and learning notes.
